1 Peter 5:2-3,
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them---not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve, not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
About Marvin G. Gatling
Our pastor is the Reverend Marvin G. Gatling. Pastor Gatling was licensed to preach and Ordained as a minister of the gospel, under the late Dr. Spurgeon E. Crayton of the Holy Trinity Baptist Church, Amityville, NY; where his mother served as Church Mother, and his father served as Deacon Emeritus.
Pastor Gatling has been our under-shepherd since November 1997. He was called when we resided at 244 Howard Ave, in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, NY. In March 2018, under his leadership, the Lord relocated our ministry to 474 Rockaway Ave, in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, NY. Since then, our church has experienced growth in quantity of membership, and quality of ministry.
He is married to First Lady Cathy L. Gatling, who shares in working in the ministry of the church. Together they have a blended family of 7 children and 13 grandchildren.
His leadership objective is to help people to:
“learn a better way, to live a better life.”
Pastor Gatling is a graduate of Nyack College where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, and of Alliance Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Arts in New Testament Studies, and Master of Professional Studies in Urban Ministry.
He is a faithful supporter of the Eastern Baptist Association where he has served as chairman of the Board of Evangelism, Chairman of the Advisory Council, Chairman of the Resolution Committees, Chairman of the Permanent Organization Committee, and Chairman of Board Of Managers.
Pastor Gatling is a people person. Although he takes his leadership responsibility seriously, he loves to joke with members, young and old, and he shows a genuine interest in their affairs. He is approachable for counselling, passionate in his preaching, diligent in his leadership, and gifted as a teacher. In fact, you will hear us say, “Our pastor keeps it real!”
